Richard N. Haass is a diplomat and author of many books dealing with foreign policy, and since 2003 president of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Martin Indyk is former US ambassador to Israel and former Clinton's National Security Council Middle East adviser. He has served as Middle East adviser to the prime minister of Australia, and as an international media and communications adviser to former Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir in Israel.
